- This is the second unit in the Aikatsu! franchise comprised of the first season main characters, following STAR☆ANIS.
- This is the first major-member unit in the Aikatsu! franchise with nine members instead of eight.
- In the original Aikatsu! series anime, STAR☆ANIS was originally intended to be a nine-member unit which would have made Shine Stars! the second nine-member unit. However, the former was reduced to eight when Shion Kamiya turned down a place in the unit.
