Well I had so much fun with the Shipping/Romance forum post I made the other day that I decided to try focusing on whatever else I believed to be a wiki-related issue. I picked the first myself, and asked another user for her opinion on what she believed to be a messy wiki-related topic.
So we'll start with mine: BRAGGING
Its a very minor issue- in all honesty. However we see it happen from time-to-time.
1. Why Brag?
People do it normally because they are happy to have been right or just the desire to rub it in others faces. It can be personal or not. Its a common reaction of several and sure, there's no harm in just doing it once or twice, as long as you keep it in seperate topics...
If you do it about 3 times in the SAME topic, or even 6 times spread out between topics then it becomes annoying. People DO NOT like people who brag.
2. Ways to Heathily Handle your Momentary Superiority.
Instead of gloating or bragging, just say your point once, make sure to avoid using words that could be deemed "gloating" or "bragging" and move on.
Bad - Hah! I told you she would end up being an antagonist! I was right! I knew it!
Good - I was right x3 I knew I'd be.
See how much better that is? You don't sound abrasive or like you're attacking anyone. You get your point across and you avoid being a creep.
JUDGING SERIES BEFORE YOU GET TO KNOW THEM...
I'm not naming names at all, so please don't think this is directed at one specific person. But before Stars began admit it, a lot of us were hesitating over it, and some of us were flat-out pretending the series didn't exist because we didn't want to say goodbye to Aikatsu.
Yes, its okay to be sad over your favorite series coming to an end. Who wouldn't be? However, you should keep in mind that when a new series is being revealed/worked on, it isn't fair to assume that you won't like it. Did you honestly read into the information surrounding it? Did you fairly consider the various options present to you in this time? Did you like the feeling of never seeing anything related to Aikatsu ever again?
1.Showing an Open-Mind to new Series.
Its easy for most than it is others. A new series can be a bit scary, and I hate change- so I understand that feeling too well. But heres the thing: How can you think something is bad or scary if you barely know anything about it?
Several members happily reconsidered once they actually got to see Aikatsu Stars and learned more about it. Because they knew more by then.
2. Be Positive!
Oh, is there going to be shipping you don't like? Oh what if the characters aren't as good? What if the series is more serious than the last one?
As I've personally learned, thinking like this is ONLY going to lead to disappointment and sadness. Remind yourself, "I miss Aikatsu, but I'm really happy the series is still kicking! I'd feel worse if they didn't bother to try again."
Instead of the above, keep in mind: "Shipping is almost 80% of the fandom. Even if things look like they could go in that direction they might now" or "The characters deserve a fair chance before I worry I wont like them. With so many I'll find a new Idol I'll like!" or "serious tones can be a good thing. It'll bring something new!"
Try to think of the various things before you judge a series. Remember that your fellow friends and fans may feel the same way and you don't have to be alone with your doubts. Enjoy your time, don't worry over the possible negatives holding you back.
